Week 22 Update (and a story)

It might embarass Jason for me to tell this story, but I'm going to anyways :) We played golf on Friday, and as usual, I wasn't doing too well. While we were on the back 9, I told Jason I really wanted to go get a pedicure. That somehow spun into me telling him how much I though HE would enjoy one too. He thought it sounded too girly though, so said he wouldn't do it. He was nice enough to offer to go with me and watch me have one done, so that I could get my wish and still spend time together. Of course I told him that's just silly.

With 5 holes to go, I decided to make a bet. I told him that if I got par on any hole - something I hadn't done in over a year - then he had to go get a pedicure with me. He hesitated, but realized how unlikely that was, so agreed. I FINALLY got a par on the 18th hole. I was so excited - I got to get a pedicure, AND my husband was going to experience his first (and I really knew he'd enjoy it).

I happened to talk to my parents before we went, and mom mentioned she really wanted one too. My dad isn't too manly to turn down someone massaging his feet as he sits in a massage chair, so quickly agreed to a double date. So Dad and Jason picked up a 6 pack of beer, and enjoyed a few cold ones as they had a pedicure. Jason thanked me for making the par :)

Anyways, I tell you that story so that I can tell you about the conversation I had with the lady that did Jason's pedicure. He told her I was pregnant, and she asked how many weeks. I told her I was 21 weeks, and she replied in a thick accent, "ah, I couldn't even tell you were pregnant - I thought you were just chub-chub!". TOO FUNNY! I was actually glad someone came out and said what I thought people who didn't know me were thinking. I'm definitely showing, but I can't wait until I'm showing enough for it to be obvious even to strangers!

Now for the update from babycenter.com:

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.
